In Beijing, commuters now have the opportunity to trade in their empty plastic bottles for subway credit, offsetting the costs of travel and the costs to the environment.

This is a prime example of innovation in the sustainable arena. Not only does a system like this enable commuters to dispose of plastic waste in an environmental way, but it also allows them to save money by doing good. 

Then again, in an ideal world, we would have no plastic bottles in the first place! Wouldn’t it be great if, instead, every time you filled up a reusable bottle, you got subway credits?
